Got questions?
The most common questions we get — about the test, the results, the cost, and who it's for. If yours isn't here, get in touch with Reece.
The session runs for about 45–60 minutes and has three parts. First, Reece will talk through your training history, your events, and your current hydration habits — this context shapes everything that follows.
Then comes the test itself. A small sweat inducer is placed on your forearm. It uses a mild electrical current to stimulate a patch of local sweat glands — no exercise, no discomfort. The sweat is collected and analysed on the spot to give your exact sodium concentration in mg/L.
Finally, Reece builds your personalised hydration and fuelling plan with you, walking through what your numbers mean and how to apply them to your specific events and conditions.
No. The sweat inducer uses a very mild electrical current — most people describe it as a slight tingling sensation at most. It's placed on your forearm and takes around 15 minutes. The rest of the session is conversation and planning.
No — and this is one of the things that surprises most people. The sweat inducer activates your sweat glands directly using a process called iontophoresis. You sit comfortably throughout. No treadmill, no warm-up, no effort required.
Very. The Precision Fuel & Hydration clinical sweat test is the same method used at the PF&H Performance Lab and trusted by professional cycling teams, Ironman athletes, and elite runners worldwide. It measures your sweat sodium concentration directly from a collected sample — not an estimate based on questionnaires or wearable data.
No special preparation required. You don't need to fast, avoid caffeine, or train beforehand. Just come as you normally would. If you have any recent blood test results, race reports, or training data you'd like to discuss, bring those along — they can help Reece tailor your plan further.
Your sweat sodium concentration is a fixed physiological characteristic — it's largely genetically determined and doesn't change with training, fitness level, or age. This means you only need to test once. The number you get is yours for life.
Your sweat rate does vary with conditions (temperature, intensity, acclimatisation), but that's accounted for in your plan without needing to retest.
It tells you how much sodium you lose per litre of sweat. Athletes typically range from around 200mg/L on the low end to over 2,000mg/L on the high end. Most people sit somewhere in the middle, but the range is enormous — which is exactly why generic advice so often fails.
A high concentration means you need to replace significantly more sodium than the average athlete. A low concentration means you may be over-supplementing. Knowing your number means your strategy is based on your body, not an average.
It won't — or at least not meaningfully. Sweat sodium concentration is stable across your lifetime. Unlike sweat rate (which changes with fitness and conditions), the concentration is a fixed characteristic. That's what makes a single test so valuable.
You leave with your sweat sodium result, a personalised hydration plan with hourly fluid and sodium targets, a Race Day Planner broken down leg by leg for your specific events, product recommendations matched to your numbers, and your data loaded into the SweatTracker app. Reece also sends a written summary email within 24 hours, and you have ongoing access to him for questions.

Plan for 60 minutes. The test itself takes around 15 minutes, but the consultation before and the plan-building session after are where most of the value is — and Reece doesn't rush those.
Yes. If you'd like your coach present or want to come along with a training partner who is also booking, that's completely fine. Just let Reece know when you book.
The $259 covers the clinical sweat test itself, the full 60-minute consultation, your personalised hydration and fuelling plan, a leg-by-leg Race Day Planner, product recommendations, SweatTracker app setup, and a follow-up email summary — plus ongoing access to Reece after the session.
It's a one-time investment. Unlike a nutrition subscription or a coaching retainer, you don't pay again. The data is yours for life.
Yes — and some of the biggest beneficiaries are recreational athletes who've been struggling with cramping or fatigue for years without understanding why. You don't need to be racing for a podium to benefit from knowing your body's hydration needs. If you're training consistently and care about how you feel during and after exercise, the data is relevant.
Then this is even more valuable — because right now you're likely using the wrong dose. Most athletes significantly under- or over-supplement relative to their actual needs. Knowing your number means every dollar you spend on hydration products is actually working for you, rather than guessing.
Any endurance sport where you're working for more than 60–90 minutes — running, cycling, triathlon, open water swimming, trail running, hiking, team sports with long exposure. If you sweat over sustained effort, your sodium concentration matters.
That depends on where your plan came from. If it's based on generic guidelines or product label recommendations, it's built around an average athlete — not you. If you've never had a sweat test, there's no way to know whether your current approach matches your actual needs. Many athletes following a "plan" are still significantly under- or over-replacing sodium.
No. Reece is product-agnostic — his recommendations are based on what suits your sodium concentration, not what he has to sell. You'll leave with options across several brands and formats so you can choose what works for your budget and preferences.
Cramping is complex and not always solely a sodium issue — but sodium deficiency is one of the most common and underdiagnosed causes, particularly in athletes who are heavy or salty sweaters. For many athletes who have tested, getting their sodium intake right has dramatically reduced or eliminated cramping. Your test result will tell you whether sodium is likely a contributing factor for you.
